Take the Pledge

Today is the official end of National Work Zone Awareness week which kicked off on Monday. According to the US DOT, there were approximately 3,100 work zone crashes in 2018. Distracted driving was and is a major contributor to work zone crashes. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that April is Distracted Driving Awareness month.

KBT would like to remind our readers that distracted driving is 100% preventable. We all need to be reminded that distracted driving is everything from texting and driving to putting on lipstick while driving to programming a GPS. It is anything and everything that takes our attention away from driving.

Travelers Insurance Company’s “Unfinished Stories” tell the stories of those killed by distracted driving in a way that has never been done before. The video below entitle “The Tree House” is one of their powerful productions.

We hope you will take the following pledge not to drive distracted:

I pledge to Just Drive for my own safety and for others with whom I share the roads. I choose to not drive distracted in any way – I will not:

Have a phone conversation – handheld, hands-free, or via Bluetooth

  • Text or send Snapchats
  • Use voice-to-text features in my vehicle’s dashboard system
  • Update Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo or other social media
  • Check or send emails
  • Take selfies or film videos
  • Input destinations into GPS (while the vehicle is in motion)
  • Call or message someone else when I know they are driving
