Mikael Pelfrey

Director, Division of Planning- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Mikael Pelfrey graduated from the University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering in May 2001.  After working for consultants for five years, he started with KYTC in the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid in 2006.  In 2011, he transitioned to the Division of Planning and in 2012 became the Strategic Corridor Team Lead, primarily overseeing consultant-led planning studies.  In November 2018, he became the Branch Manager for Multimodal Programs working with programs such as freight, bike/ped, and air quality.  Since February 2020, he has been in an acting or permanent role as the Director of the Division of Planning.

He lives in Lexington with his wife Sagan, and sons Linden, Charleston, and Wells.
