Joe Crabtree served as Director of the Kentucky Transportation Center at the University of Kentucky from 2010 to 2021 and currently serves as a part-time Research Engineer. Dr. Crabtree has 36 years’ experience in transportation research, with a primary focus on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Commercial Vehicle Technology and Policy, and Research Program Management. He served as a nuclear propulsion officer in the United States Navy, and he also worked in the private sector with Mobil Chemical Company. He is a native of Lexington, Kentucky, and a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He has been married to his wife Lisa for 45 years. They have two adult children and three grandsons.
